On September 8, 2011 the USS New York
arrived in New York for the tenth anniversary of 9/11. The Flag, escorted by the US Coast Guard and the NYPD, was transported
eight miles out to sea to meet the ship to prepare for the 8:00 AM unfurling at Ground Zero. When the
ship paused at Ground Zero, it's entire crew along with members of the FDNY and the NYPD rendered honors
